NJ Salon in Banner Cross Sheffield is a quality, though very reasonably priced, Gents Hair Stylist offering a 6 day walk-in or appointment service.
The owners had previously had a website created which was a superb marketing tool for the business. The website www.njsalon.co.uk is stylish and very professional reflecting a great image about the business and its quality services.
THE PROBLEM
Whilst the website LOOKS superb and is a great place to direct visitors from marketing flyers and advertising, the website was NOT being listed on search engines.
The problem was quite simply that the site had been designed with ‘appearance’ in mind and little consideration to search engines such as google.
My task was to gain the business more exposure on google, and msn etc. As I did not wish to affect the existing website (which was designed largely in Flash – a program in which I have zero skills) I created NJ Salon another, 'second' website aimed purely at getting them MORE BUSINESS and with far less emphasis on a wonderfully stylish website. The plan being to create a nice looking website (that could easily link to their existing one) that was optimized for search engines (SEO).
I created www.sheffield-hair-salon.com and applied our optimization techniques. Within 2 weeks of launching the website it was being listed top of google and other search engines and had received 1071 hits in the first 3 weeks.

- Type in: ' gents hair salons sheffield'
- Hit: 'Search Web'
- Result? MSN: The new website will be first in the displayed results!
- Result? google: The new website will be first to third in the displayed results!
Winchester Garage
Take Winchester Garage. This is a motor servicing garage based in Banner Cross Sheffield. In August 2006 their new website went live. As their decision to order a site came out of the blue they had NOT initially marketed it in ANY WAY whatsoever. However, as a direct result of us adding their website winchester-garage.co.uk to google they have had NEW business. The first enquiry and order within 1 week of us adding the site to the major search engines, and without Winchester paying us 1 penny.

- Type in: 'mercedes servicing sheffield'
- Hit: 'Search Web'
- Result? Out of over 5,700 results, Winchester will be first or second in the displayed results!
